Daniel Atwood, MD

Dr. H. Daniel Atwood was born in Mississippi and now resides outside of Fayetteville with his wife Miriam. He has four children, five grandchildren, and when possible, enjoys fishing, gardening, and reading. As an active member in his church, he chooses to use this affiliation to guide him daily.

Prior to beginning his practice in plastic surgery, Dr. Atwood graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1973. He was selected as one of the few members of his class to go to medical school, graduating from the University of Mississippi, School of Medicine in 1977. He then completed a residency in general surgery and became board certified in surgery in 1984. He served overseas with the Air Force as Chief of Hospital Services and Chief of Surgery at USAF Hospital Lajes in the Azores. He was then selected for residency in Plastic Surgery at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He was subsequently appointed, Chief of Plastic Surgery at David Grant USAF Medical Center in California. Upon his honorable discharge form the Air Force, he moved to Northwest Arkansas where he has been in private practice since 1987.

Dr. Atwood practices plastic surgery with an emphasis in aesthetic plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery of the breast. He holds certification with the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Atwood was also a past president of the Arkansas Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Atwood’s personal goal is to “provide the highest quality of plastic surgical care and expertise to help people feel more confident and increase their self-esteem and quality of life. If the results do not look natural, then the surgery was not done well.”
